So often, as I sit down to write, I have more thoughts than I can possibly count, more ideas for a post than I could write about in 10 years! Spirituality is involved in every part of our daily lives, or rather, it should be.
One of the primary issues I often have is making sure that it is not my message, or my ideas that I write about. I have always said that my writing is a gift from the Spirit, and if that is the case, what I write must be from the Spirit.
With so many different ideas, concepts, all the buzzing that goes on in our heads every minute of every day, how do you know what is from the Spirit, and what is not? The answer is simple. If it is a loud thought, a thought that feels as though it is inside your head, it’s probably not the Spirit. Or at least in my experience it’s not. A message from the Spirit feels quiet, like a whisper welling up inside you, coming from your heart.
Every time, before I start writing, I always take a moment. I breathe and relax. I shut off the ego voices in my head, so that I can let through the small, quiet voice of the Spirit speak through me. Then and only then, will I begin to write.
