Unexpected Blessings

As the year winds down and comes to a close, it is with a grateful heart that I am able to say that the year is ending far better than it began, and how it has been for most of the year. At this time last year we were at the beginning of what became a year in hell, full of stress, tension and more more emotional trauma than we thought we could handle. With the help of the Spirit, we have made it through and have been making speedy progress on the road to emotional recovery. I am happy to say that we are already in a better place than we were a year ago.

I am also extremely excited to say that, thanks to my wonderful husband, I have just had the best weekend that I have had in a very long time. I don’t take a lot of breaks from what I do. When I’m not at work, I am working for the chapel, or working on things for the home and family. This past weekend, I was able to take a break from almost everything and enjoy. I knew I was going to see one of my favorite bands as they came through our town (which was a first ever for them – usually we would have to drive three hours to the closest venue). What I didn’t expect was for them to fly into and out of the airport where I work. While I missed the arrival (I was on my day off getting a fantastic gift from my husband), one of my co-workers sent me a picture of a friend of ours with the band! Next day, I went to the show where I had a fantastic seat. When I returned to work yesterday morning, I was able to tell them Thank You for a great show in person. It was the perfect ending to a perfect weekend.

Life is going to bring surprises. Not always at the change of the seasons, or of the year. Not all the surprises will be good. This past year has been an example of that. But not all the surprises will be negative either, and this past weekend is an example of that. Count your blessings when they arrive and be grateful for them. When you are grateful for the blessings, and can appreciate the challenges as they are opportunities to grow, your blessings will multiply and grow. And as time goes on they will only get better and better.

Blessed Be.
